New York Gentleman's Dressing Table

Status: Sold

General Description: A Fine and Rare Classical Ormolu-mounted, Carved and Parcel Gilt Mahogany Dressing Table with Looking Glass, New York, circa 1820.

Details: This fine Classical dressing table retains its original gilt bronze mounts and brass ring pulls, and probably the original mirror plate and backboard. With its use of broad bands of fine highly figured mahogany veneers, its unadorned frontal surfaces, its free standing gilt bronze decorated columns, its pilasters with parcel gilt capitals and bases and its finely carved feet, it is obviously the work of a superb New York cabinetmaker. In form, the base is derived from the design of a Classical Pier Table. Width: 37 inches, Depth 18 inches, Height: 67 inches
