General Description: A Rare Carved Neoclassical Giltwood Pier Glass, English or American, circa 1795. Original mirror plate.
Details: Crest decorated with finely carved reeded urn with fringed swags and flowers and leafage. Most of these details are from designs in George Hepplewhite's "The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide", 1st edition, 1788, esp. Plate 117; this design was reprinted in the 1794 edition as well. Backboard is replaced. Height: 63 inches; Width: 23-3/4 inches.
