General Description: Strongly Attributed to Horace Bundy, A Fine Portrait of Samuel Langston of Kittery, Maine, circa 1840. Handsome period gilt frame. Frame bears contemporary gilt label stating portrait is attributed to Bundy.

Details: Oil on canvas. 28 inches x 36 inches (outside of frame). Horace Bundy (1814-1883) was a well-known itinerant painter of portraits and landscapes who worked in Vermont and New Hampshire (Kittery, Maine is just across the border from Portsmouth, NH), and often did not sign his portraits. His work is found in many museum collections. The subject died in Boston in 1862 at the age of 63.
