A Complete Three-piece Garniture of Patinated Bronze Argand LampsStatus: For Sale General Description: An Exceptional Complete Garniture of Three Classical Patinated Bronze Argand Lamps with Crystal Prisms, attributed to Thomas Messenger & Son, Birmingham & London, circa 1825. Details: Consisting of one double and two single lamps. Fonts decorated with acanthus leafage and artichoke finials. Unelectrified, the lamps all retain their original burner assemblies. Prism rings, finely decorated with anthemions and floral rosette handles, retain original antique crystal prisms. Superb detail including dolphin-decorated triangular bases, floral rosettes, and acanthus leafage. The lamps, which retain their original bronze patination, are almost certainly by Thomas Messenger & Son, Birmingham & London, the foremost manufacturer of fine lighting in the period. The frosted and wheel-cut shades are correct reproductions. A considerable amount of congealed lamp oil remains in fonts and burner assemblies.
